Elek Gives Back to the Lehigh Valley
As a long-standing Lehigh Valley business, Elek Plumbing strives to be a good neighbor: prioritizing acts of service and sharing our time and resources with those in need. Proudly “giving back” to the communities where we live, work and raise our families, the Elek SuperSTARS team supports the following organizations and charitable events.
Allentown Rescue Mission & Big Brothers Big Sisters
At the end of 2016 and with the assistance of commercial and residential customers, Elek Plumbing sponsored a toy drive for families in need. Then, our technicians and office staff wrapped donated toys during the Valley’s “Littles Holiday Shop” held by Big Brothers Big Sisters.
To spread the spirit of giving, we also partnered with clients and area donors to provide holiday food, clothing and gift cards for Allentown Rescue Mission. Visit the Rescue Mission website to discover ways you can make a difference, year round.
Autism Speaks Walk
According to the CDC, autism spectrum disorders affect one in 68 children. To promote awareness and lend support to those living with autism, Elek Plumbing partnered with customer Elizabeth DeCarlo on the 2016 and 2017 Autism Speaks Walks held at the SteelStacks in Bethlehem. DeCarlo’s team, Audrey’s Angels, was named in honor of her autistic daughter.
The Elek Plumbing team encourages Lehigh Valley residents to continue supporting Autism Speaks by joining a walk, volunteering, or donating securely online: secure.autismspeaks.org/ways-give.
Childhood Apraxia of Speech Organization of North America (CASANA)
During 2016, Elek Plumbing was a Platinum Sponsor for the Lehigh Valley Walk for Children with Apraxia of Speech. Thanks to our team members and generous customer donors, we helped the Lehigh Valley raise over $16,000 to benefit apraxia programs and research through CASANA. The 2017 walk will be held Sunday, September 24 in Allentown. Contribute to ongoing apraxia of speech education and research efforts by clicking here.
Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors
Last year, Elek owner Don Harris worked tirelessly to lose his goal weight and raise money for PA Wounded Warriors. Together with generous organizations and sponsors across the Lehigh Valley, we raised a total of $1,553 to help area veterans meet costs for housing, transportation and medical care. Donate to Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors now.
