THE ELEK COMPANY HISTORY
William Elek Plumbing & Heating...a Bethlehem success story. Established on the south side of Bethlehem in 1913 by Hungarian immigrant William Elek Senior, William Elek Plumbing & Heating Ltd. began simply as a grassroots business endeavor by a family man chasing the American dream. Initially operating out of one small open-sided panel truck, William set out to provide Bethlehem homes with friendly service and quality plumbing care.

Eventually, William's business grew beyond his truck and into his family basement.
The second generation, William Jr. continued the tradition of customer service and skilled workmanship. Under his leadership the company worked out of the 314 Taylor Street Shop on the south side of Bethlehem.
William Jr. was an active member of the community, serving as a member of the Bethlehem Board of Appeals and as the Secretary of the Bethlehem Master Plumber's Association for 56 years.

| The third generation, Stephen, took over the ownership of the company when it was incorporated in 1975. The shop and offices were moved to the corner of 3rd and Webster Streets.
Steve, as his father, sustains the tradition of community service, serving as Secretary of the Bethlehem Master Plumber's Association, a member of the Board of Examiners for the City of Bethlehem, and acted as a judge in the SKILLS USA Competitions.

The tradition of exceptional customer service was recognized in 1998 when
William Elek Plumbing & Heating received the award for
ethical business practices in the remodeling and construction industry
from the Better Business Bureau of Eastern Pennsylvania.
This was the first time a business was ever nominated by a customer for this award.

In 2002, William Elek, Inc. became William Elek, Ltd. Three generations of Elek's have carried on the original mission statement of quality plumbing and heating services to our customers and the community. William Elek, Ltd. assures the continuance of this same dediction to excellent service.
In 2004, Elek Plumbing was honored to become the recipient of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Business Award in the 1-49 employee category.

In 2006, William Elek Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning received the Who's Who in the Lehigh Valley.
In 2008, William Elek Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning was honored to receive the Morning Call Reader's Choice award in both the Bathroom Remodeling Contractor and Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor catagories.
In 2009, William Elek Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning received the Morning Call Reader's Choice award in the Plumber catagory.
